CANNONBALL SAXOPHONE REVIEWS

By Harry Cartwrigtht

Purchased a Cannonball Tenor Sax last year that I believe is the Cannonball T5 model. Has the black nickel body with lacquer keys. The moment I first played this instrument, I fell in love with it. It's not only beautiful, it has a big fat sound and superb response. The altissimo just seems to be more responsive that other tenors I've played.

For an instrument that has the price range that I, otherwise, would not be able to afford, this instrument has a lot going for it. The action is not as good as the others so it's a litter slower. The main problem is it seems to get out of adjustment more often than I like. I don't think it's as solid as other horns but with this said - it is the best tenor saxophone I've ever owned and one of the best I've ever played. I feel such a oneness with this instrument.

Have an friend in his 80's I have sax with once in a while (play and discuss saxes with him). A very accomplished jazz player, I not only got his attention but his wife's when after several years of playing, that Cannonball made me shine just a little more. He stated that I played better with bigger belled saxes. CANNONBALL SAXES ARE BOSS!!! I do want to look at the Rampone and Cazanni Saxes however.

Yours,
Harry Cartwrigtht
